Sugar Skulls: Some use skulls for protection, while other cultures associated it as a symbol of good luck, knowledge and change. In Mexican culture the skull is most associated with the Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos. Sugar skulls represented a departed soul, had the name written on the forehead and was placed on the home gravestone to honor the return of a particular spirit.
